Share Your Memories

The Middleton Railway Museum is working on a project to rekindle old memories and relive our station’s culture and heritage. We would love to hear your stories!

From the tales of that train ride, the long wait for the train to pick you up, or the much-anticipated trip somewhere on a train; these memories are a powerful means of connecting communities and generations. These stories are one of our greatest historical resources and are particularly important to collect and record.

We invite you to share your favourite personal memories or a story your grandparent shared with you, whether they are memories of major historical events involving the railway, fond memories of how you remember travelling on the train, or recollections of anything related to people, stations and locomotives that ran through Middleton and beyond. Do you have a fond memory to add to our museum’s collection?

How to Submit Your Memories

Please complete the form below to share your story, or that of an elderly friend or relative, with us. If you wish to send multiple stories, please complete the form for each story to help keep them clear and organized.

Once you submit your story, we’ll work on getting it posted in our collection online.

Please feel free to share information about this project with other residents (and former residents) of our community.

With your help, we can create a treasured collection of stories that reflect the experiences, wisdom, and history of the people involved in the railways that will be enjoyed for years to come.

STORY PROMPTS

Try using some of these story prompts. You don’t have to answer all of them, but choose the ones most relevant to your story

  • When did you first visit Middleton Station?
  • When did you first ride the DAR/CNR in the Annapolis Valley?
  • Is there a person who “means” Middleton Station or DAR/CNR in the Annapolis Valley to you?
  • Is there an important family or community tradition around the railways you want to tell?
  • Is there an important date or event in your history involving Middleton Station or DAR/CNR in the Annapolis Valley?
  • How do the photos you are submitting with your story help to tell your story? What’s their significance? Rather than describe the photo, tell us what it means to you.
